Hello everyone: I just discovered this forum and decided to give it a try. I have both of Burge's courses which I purchased a number of years ago. I wouldn't be able to afford them today; anyway, I have recently gone back to them and am trying to plod through. I just believe that it is going to take some time to develop these skills. Having folks like yourself who are trying to develop these skills are encouraging to me. I think that's why I haven't gotten very far. I just need to be encouraged and know that I am not the only one struggling to master this skill. It's always better to have company whereby we can support each other. I am going to begin this program tomorrow. How are you finding it and are there any words of advice, encouragement, what to look for, etc. from anyone? Thanks. |

my tip is to study an instrument and do ear training at the same time. If you can only do one, then study an instrument. After all, you must ask yourself why you are doing ear training in the first place. |

Sure thing, I am with that! No ear training is good enough if your intentions are to play an instrument but never practice playing it. If you cannot play just a single tone than I assume things get tougher, but in my case I need to keep playing to become better and... It is so much fun, very challenging at the same time and it beats most of my current ear training exercises. Peace |
