Ok guys, I just felt it was time for a new thread. I think pitch timbre is the last step for me before my perfect pitch really opens up. I can hear up to four note chords on my piano without much trouble. And four notes on Prolobe is just a little less accurate. Yet, a few weeks ago, I couldn't even name single notes on different timbres other than piano! What's really amazing is now that I've spent the past few weeks working on hearing pitches in different timbres, my PP really took off. Suddenly notes jump out from tv, the radio, at the store, from my car, and just notes that I hear around my house or wherever I go. It's like a kid just discovering all these new colors! haha kinda weird, I know, but it's cool to see I'm getting better at this. Did anyone else go through this process? Or just write about anything! |

'I can hear up to four note chords on my piano without much trouble. And four notes on Prolobe is just a little less accurate. Yet, a few weeks ago, I couldn't even name single notes on different timbres other than piano!' Hmm...for me, once i learned an F, it was almost easier on other timbre. To this day, it's still easier for me to ID notes AP-wise on random timbre vs. my own instrument. They're just more isolated that way. That's how I blew through this program when I started when I was kid. IMO |

That's really interesting, completely different from my experience. Notes on different instruments used to sound completely foreign to me. I still have a way to go until I can hear notes on different timbres as well as on piano though. |

Yes, that does seem like an experience I have been through in the past. About two weeks ago I had "new" experience where I was seemingly able to hear the absolute identity of about every single tone from a piece of music. The music was not slow and I was amazed by it! Since it was not slow and composed of many chords and such I could not name them as they passed by but I did feel to know all of them as I heard them. I guess the best way to describe a similar experience is looking at a screen of lots of flashing colors passing by. Absolute joy it was! |

You guys, my brother has the weirdest, freakin' hearing ever! As he was upstairs playing a song of Akon, I played along bits and pieces of the song. Since I already know he has trouble with recognizing songs that are even the slightest different, I tested him again on that one as he came down the stairs after the song finished. I called him in and asked him to recognize the song I played him and eventhough I thought he would nail it instantly, he just could not do it. Guys, don't even go there to comment I simply played it wrong or whatever. No, not every single thing was as precise as in that song, but everyone should recognize it nevertheless. My mom was upstairs and I played it to her, she recognized it instantly and she is the farthest from being somewhat musically talented. It took him forever, about 10 minutes, to finally call me up to his room and play me the song in question. Still, he was not convinced, but he said it must have been that one because no other song he can think of sounds that similar. You just should have been there to witness it. Crazy man, just crazy!
